Dr Rosalie Power
Dr Rosalie Power is a Research Fellow with the Translational Health Research Institute (THRI) at Western Sydney University. Rosalie’s research focuses on marginalized population health, specialising in LGBTIQ+ health, disability, and chronic illness and using mixed-methods, arts-based, and co-creation approaches. Rosalie was the Research Associate on The Out with Cancer Study, a 4-year Australian Research Council Linkage Funded project investigating LGBTIQ+ experiences of cancer and cancer care from the perspective of LGBTIQ+ people with cancer, their carers, and healthcare professionals, as well as the inclusiveness of Australian cancer organization websites. This research has had a global impact, being translated into world-leading patient resources, directly impacting the lives of LGBTIQ+ cancer patients and their carers. Additionally, the research has influenced policy and practice, leading to improvements in the cultural safety of cancer care and increased support for the LGBTIQ+ community. Rosalie’s research draws on 15+ years of professional experience in the disability and sexual health sectors in Australia and low-and middle-income countries.
