Independent Chair to Healthy Waterways Strategy Region-wide Leadership Group, Board Chair and former Chair, Environment Protection Authority Victoria
Cheryl Batagol PSM is the Independent Chair of the Region-wide Leadership Group who oversee the Healthy Waterways Strategy. Cheryl has worked across the public and private sectors in water, environment protection and waste and pollution management. She was Chair of Melbourne Water, the Environment Protection Authority (Victoria) and the Co-operative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities. Throughout her career Cheryl has been passionate about waterway protection through the collaboration between the community, public sector agencies, the research community and the private sector.
Rebeca is the CEO of Future Crunch and an Influence strategist. As an authority in the world of professional speaking, she spent 15 years representing and advising some of the world's most respected thought leaders and since 2014, alongside the co-founders, has built Future Crunch into a global thought leadership and media brand.
Rebecca is the creator of Ignite, a bespoke consulting process designed to help entrepreneurs and leaders stand out in their marketplace and transform their expertise and stories into real influence. She is also the host of the Future Crunch Podcast, Optimized.
Tané is a cancer researcher, bio-informatician, and science communicator. He is a co-founder at Future Crunch. He has a Masters in Bioinformatics from the University of Melbourne, and has worked for the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital diagnosing rare genetic diseases.
He is currently completing his PhD at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, using molecular biomarkers in DNA and analysing them with artificial intelligence to improve treatments for people suffering from cancer. He's also a former United States mountain biking champion and an avid sailor.
Tony has substantial catchment and urban water quality management expertise obtained through his career in consulting and key roles at 3 CRCs (Catchment Hydrology, eWater and Water Sensitive Cities). He was part of key formative groups that scoped and oversaw the development of software packages MUSIC and eWater Source - and for several years was a Non-Executive Director at eWater Innovations.
Recently, Tony has been instrumental in the identification, scoping and subsequent approval of major freshwater and mangrove wetland creation or restoration projects in South East Queensland, as follows:
· Sunshine Coast Blue Heart project
· Cannery Creek wetland project (Brisbane)
· Southern Redland Bay mangrove and saltmarsh wetland project (Redland)
· Pimpama (mangrove) and Merrimac (freshwater) wetland projects
Internationally, Tony has overseen and undertaken projects in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia (Red Sea), Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
