The SEPLA-CON 2023 program will include a School Teams’ Day on Monday, 17th July and a School Leaders' Day on Tuesday, 18th July. The School Teams' Day allows schools to send their mainstream teachers, special education teachers, School Learning Support Officers (Education Assistants) and leaders at minimal cost. The Leaders' Day will focus on the professional learning of school leaders and administrators at all career levels in special and regular education.
The theme for SEPLA-CON 2023 is: ‘Change, Challenge and Choice’. We believe this theme reflects the challenges we have faced and will not only provide an opportunity to build on existing knowledge and practice, but look at the human side of what we do and the realities of our profession.
The Conference Program will consist of a mix of presentation types, as follows:
Workshops (45 minutes) | Oral Presentations (45 minutes) | Poster Presentations |
The Conference Organising Committee is seeking submissions related to the following topics:
(UPDATE) How and what are we leading in our schools and communities? How has leading changed over the last two years and what are the implications for leadership going forward? How are we adapting our leadership to new challenges and emerging trends? How are we building the leadership capacity within our schools and school communities? We want to hear from the leaders and those leading in our school communities.
(UPDATE) How are we learning to support or create programs for our collective well-being, staff, and students? How are we creating environments for students and staff that enable mental, physical, and emotional well-being? We want to hear from those who are developing, implementing, or have had success with programs that support us within and outside of our daily work. What internal or external supports have worked to support collective school well-being and practices?
(UPDATE) What initiatives, resources or practices are we implementing to support student learning, growth and meaningful assessment for students with a disability or other learning complexities. How are we adapting environments for students that enable success? What new and innovative ways is technology increasing both the engagement and positive social and educational outcomes for our students. We want to get a broad range of submissions demonstrating how schools are adjusting to our ever changing social and school environments with regard to student learning.
The Program Committee would also welcome abstracts that address the theme of working with students with emotional and behavioural difficulties and trauma informed practice.
