Panel Session

Stormwater's Role in a Sustainable 2032 Olympics

The 2032 Olympics are contractually obligated to be 'climate positive', including sustainability in all aspects of the games. With a focus on integrated water management, waterway management and city planning, this panel will highlight opportunities for stormwater professionals to contribute to achieving this goal.

The Olympics is potentially a catalyst for Total Water Cycle Management (TWCM) and Integrated Water Management (IWM) to gain traction in South East Queensland and show what's required to achieve those sustainability outcomes. You can expect to hear valuable insights from three prominent industry leaders working in this space and answer some questions such as the following:

  • How do the sustainability goals of the Olympics relate to stormwater specifically and our area of influence?
  • Where do stormwater professionals fit within the bigger picture in terms of TWCM and IWM?
  • How do water utilities and other authorities view and value the role of stormwater in the urban water cycle?
  • How can we empower stormwater professionals to help deliver on the Olympic's sustainability goals?
  • We will also give you a chance to ask your own burning questions!
