Nilo Nascimento is a civil engineer from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil), holds a master's degree in applied hydrology from the EPFL (Switzerland, 1985) and a doctorate in environmental sciences from the ENPC (France, 1995). He is a full professor in the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources at UFMG. From March 2023 to February 2024, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Technology Sydney. His main fields of research are in urban water management, with a focus on sustainable urban drainage systems and flood studies. Currently, he is the Coordinator of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme Working Group on Urban Water and Human Settlements for Latin America and the Caribbean. He is a member of the editorial board of the Urban Water Journal and of scientific committees of numerous national and international conferences.
