Martin Puddey has managed the EPA Flood Recovery Programs Team since October 2021. Martin has over 15 years’ experience working with the NSW EPA in various policy, strategy and operational roles and is very committed to doing his part in protecting the environment of NSW. The EPA as the lead for Environmental Services is responsible for delivering in conjunction with multiple NSW Agencies, a number of key clean-up programs to help the community and the environment recover from the compounding flood events that have occurred since March 2021. The programs focus on identifying and removing large and hazardous flood debris that was deposited in rivers and on shorelines, beaches and flood impacted land. The programs also generate valuable data for impacted environments through sonar surveys for submerged debris and long term water quality analysis. The programs are a significant investment for the Commonwealth and NSW State government and have removed over 23,000 cubic metres (almost 10 Olympic swimming pools) of debris from the environment.
