Awards and Honours

At the 28th Annual CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy & Social Networking Conference (CYPSY28), awards are presented to pay tribute to individuals for their outstanding achievements.

Lifetime Achievement Award

To celebrate two decades of exciting advances in CyberTherapy, as well as the growth of the CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy & Social Networking Conference itself, we are proud to announce the 28th Annual CyberTherapy Lifetime Achievement Award.

This award has a tradition of honouring a person who has demonstrated outstanding lifetime achievements in the fields of advanced technologies and healthcare. It is the highest honour given by our community. All members of the CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy & Social Networking Conference Program Committee are invited to nominate one of their colleagues as a recipient of this award, which promises to honour a long line of esteemed researchers.

Some of the previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include:

Professor Stephane Bouchard (2005), Professor Brenda K. Wiederhold (2006), Professor Giuseppe Riva (2007), Professor Cristina Botella (2008), Professor Dr. Hunter Hoffman (2009), Professor Sun I. Kim (2010), Professor Dr. Mark D. Wiederhold (2011), Professor Mariano Alcaniz (2012), Professor Richard M. Satava. (2013), Professor Andrea Gaggioli (2014),  Professor Rosa Maria Baños (2016), Professor Michael Roy (2019), Professor Thomas D. Parsons (2023) and Professor Andrew J. Campbell (2024).

Cyber Student Award

Cyber Student Award CYBERCyberspace, Behaviour and e-Therapy Erasmus Mundus Joint Master is an innovative program that integrates behavioral and computer sciences to offer a transdisciplinary approach for studying and intervening in human behavior through digital processes, products, and services (PPS). CYBER is a two-year EMJM program that brings together students from two distinct backgrounds: Human Behavior Background (HBB) and Exact Sciences and Engineering Background (EEB). The program is offered by three universities: University Lusófona (Lisbon, Portugal), University of Barcelona (Spain), and Université Paris Cité (France). Students from HBB and EEB backgrounds are paired into teams, known as CYBER Teams (CYBER-T), working collaboratively throughout the program (www.cyber-t.eu).

The CYBER Award for Students aims to recognize and reward research led by PhD and/or MSc students that focuses on the use and validation of digital technologies, including VR, AR, XR, and AI, to better understand and/or intervene in human behavior. This award, valued at $500, is open to applicants from both CYBER tracks (HBB and EEB). Applicants must attend the CYPSY 27 conference in person and present an oral presentation discussing an original investigation. The award is presented by Professor Pedro Gamito, Head of the CYBER Program.

Young Minds Student Poster Research Awards

To showcase outstanding achievements in a student poster presented at the CYPSY Conference, the Young Minds Research awards, sponsored by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. publishers and its CyberPsychology, Behavior and Social Networking Journal, are presented to two projects judged to have the greatest potential to contribute to the innovative field of cyberpsychology, cybertherapy, training, and rehabilitation.

All posters submitted by student presenters – those who have not finished their PhD program – are eligible to compete for the two $250 awards. Posters will be judged by the scientific chairs for scientific merit and ease of presentation.  Winners will be presented with a cash award and certificate of achievement.
