Call For Concurrent Presentations

The CDAA 2024 National Conference Title is:

Trends, Transition and Transformation: The evolution of career development.

The 2024 National Conference of the Career Development Association Australia (CDAA) will be held from Sunday, 20 to Wednesday, 23 October 2024, at the Pullman, Melbourne on the Park, Melbourne, Australia.

As with previous years, the Conference aims to be both for practitioners and by practitioners: a sharing of knowledge and expertise. Conference delegate feedback consistently highlights the value of practical learning from peers - please consider how you can contribute to this experience, so that delegates leave the conference with ideas, tools and strategies that are “real and ready” for use with their clients and communities.

Within the three streams of Trends, Transition and Transformation, all potential presenters are challenged to consider how to present your expertise to the widest possible audience and how your work can be applied outside your immediate field.

Trends – What’s Coming?

Changes emerging from research, reports, technology, cultural change, or legislation that will impact career development, and the potential implications for practitioners.

Transition – What’s Changing?

The current and future transition of the career journey and the world of work. Evolving career development understanding, implications and application of emerging trends, or successful outcomes from application in a new way or different circumstances.

Transformation – What Should We Do Differently?

Innovative thinking, methodology or tools to adapt career development practices, and/ or provide new services to existing or new groups of clients.

Concurrent Presentation Criteria

All presentations must be live in person at the conference.

All concurrent presentations must be interactive / workshop style with tangible takeouts for what delegates can do before they leave and time for reflection/ planning of how to put the message or tools into practice.

Concurrent Presentations are 60 minutes long. This means a strict 25 minutes of content and 20 minutes of interactive exercise to allow for formalities and questions.

All presentations must clearly align with at least one of the three conference streams:

  • Trends – What’s Coming?: Changes emerging from research, reports, technology, cultural change, or legislation that will impact career development, and the potential implications for practitioners.
  • Transition – What’s Changing?: The current and future transition of the career journey and the world of work. Evolving career development understanding, implications and application of emerging trends, or successful outcomes from application in a new way or different circumstances.
  • Transformation – What Should We Do Differently?: Innovative thinking, methodology or tools to adapt career development practices, and/ or provide new services to existing or new groups of clients.

All presentation submissions must clearly identify which sectors or client groups of career development the presentation will benefit.
