Kyran Dixon
Braving two battles with cancer, Kyran Dixon has become a role model for young Aboriginal people in his community. Diagnosed with a bone tumor in his hip at just 11 years old, this talented Australian Rules footballer had to pause his sporting ambitions. After working his way back to football, Kyran joined the Port Adelaide Football Club Academy before disaster struck again. In 2014, he faced a second diagnosis—Acute Myeloid Leukemia—requiring lifesaving treatment. Despite enduring rounds of chemotherapy, Kyran maintained his university studies, graduating in 2016.
Now an ambassador actively promoting cancer awareness and research, Kyran is a proud member Kaurna and Narungga cultural groups. He is also a founding member of the Aboriginal Youth Cancer Advisory Group, where he advocates for healthy lifestyle choices among Aboriginal youth. Whether as a guest speaker or a mentor for at-risk youth, Kyran spreads a message of hope, strength, and resilience, motivating others to make the most of their opportunities.
