Jeffrey Rosenfeld

Jeffrey Rosenfeld AC, OBE is an internationally recognised neurosurgeon and one of Australia’s leading academic neurosurgeons. He is a former Director of Neurosurgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, and the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne.  He is currently Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Monash University; Senior neurosurgeon at the Alfred Hospital; Adjunct Professor in Surgery at the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of The Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD, USA; Honorary Professor, Department surgery, University of Papua New Guinea (PNG); and was the Foundation Director, Monash Institute of Medical Engineering (MIME). Professor Rosenfeld is a retired Major General and was Surgeon General, Australian Defence Force (ADF)-Res. 2009-2011. He deployed eight times to Rwanda, East Timor, Bougainville, Solomon Islands and Iraq. Professor Rosenfeld has been the principal investigator with the Monash Bionic Vision Group. His current research interests are the brain computer interface (BCI) and traumatic brain injury. Professor Rosenfeld is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, a Fellow of the Australian Academy Technological Sciences and Engineering, and is an International Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
