Dr Zeena Salman
Dr. Zeena Salman is a pediatric oncologist whose work focuses on the intersection of global health, cancer, and refugee health. Dr Salman obtained her MPH at Johns Hopkins, with a focus on refugee and international health, and completed her training in pediatric cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
Dr. Salman’s work includes global pediatric and oncology capacity-building and research in such settings as Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine, and more, as well as providing care to Syrian and Palestinian refugees in the camps of Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan. She currently leads a team at St Jude Children's Research Hospital working on medical evacuations from Gaza. Her previous work includes the WHO, the World Bank, and her proudest moment was serving as the medical advisor on the building of the only pediatric cancer department in the Gaza Strip. She recently co-founded a new organization, HEAL Palestine, whose vision is a holistic approach to the children of Palestine. Her vision is for worldwide equity in cancer care for every child, regardless of where they are born.
