Andrea Boutros

Andrea Boutros is a Medical Oncology Fellow from the University of Genoa, Italy, currently a Fellow at the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) in Sydney. His primary research focus is on melanoma and skin cancers, with a particular interest in the impact of melanoma treatments on the fertility of young patients. During his time at the University of Genoa, Andrea developed a keen interest in female fertility preservation, sparked by his collaboration with the Breast Unit. Together, they initiated a study to explore fertility outcomes in young women undergoing therapy for early-stage melanoma. In Sydney, Andrea has had the opportunity to expand his research into male fertility through a collaboration with the Andrology Department at Concord Hospital. This partnership has allowed him to contribute to a pioneering project on male fertility preservation in melanoma patients, recognizing that this field is still in its infancy and that much work is needed to fully understand the long-term implications of melanoma treatments on reproductive health.Andrea is committed to advancing research that enhances the quality of life for young cancer survivors, ensuring that fertility considerations are integrated into oncology care. His work bridges two continents and reflects his dedication to developing innovative strategies that support patients' reproductive futures while effectively treating cancer.
